LOG LINE
Through an alcoholic haze, a homeless man strikes up a friendship with a young woman new to the neighborhood. A few days later he sees her drive off with a man in a red Mercedes, and soon she is found murdered. He sees the man with another girl, and again, the girl turns up dead.

THE STORY AND SCREENPLAY
The Bum, a former high school teacher, is roused to action by the continuing loss of young lives. Resolved to catch the killer, he enlists an army of fellow street people to search for the red car.

They find his car and trail it and their suspect in an assortment of exotic “borrowed” vehicles, all of which run out of gas, break down or get lost on freeways, highways and roads leading to a secluded mountain cabin. The Bum, a young wino, and a bag lady reach the cabin on foot in time to prevent another girl from being murdered – if only they can convince her they’re the good guys...
